Innovation Lab

Working on innovation challenges is part of our DNA. We propose to put our know-how and our network to imagine, fund, design, and test new CleanTech solutions to reduce your impact on maritime ecosystems. Get to know our projects in progress.

We are currently working on several innovative CleanTech for several customers who want to reduce their impact on maritime ecosystems. With the huge expertise of our European partner’s network and thanks to European funding, we will finalize these developments soon.

We will then bring these disruptive Clean Technology solutions to the market as a Start-Up Studio to allow these technologies’ development. Join us to develop or use these solutions.

Blue silencer

The Blue silencer is a new acoustic containment system for construction sites to limit nuisance to local residents.

This system consists of equipping the construction site barriers with a water-filled membrane. This membrane will create a break in impedance, that is to say, a change in the medium for acoustic waves, which gives an acoustic reduction performance far superior to those on the market.

Preventive afloat cleaning and inspection robotic for hulls & underwater assets

The Preventive Afloat Hull Cleaning at Sea: R2-B2 crawler robot is an autonomous hull crawler on board the ship. The robot can be used as soon as the ship arrives at the quay and can be launched by the crew with full autonomy.

This robot will have as mission:

  • Inspection of the hull to detect corrosion
  • To make a report on the zones of dirtiness of the hull
  • Preventative cleaning of the biofouling layer on the hull at an early stage (bacterial layers) by using an innovative solution with zero water pollution
  • Detecting potential suspicious packages

Contain Hull@Sea

Contain Hull@Sea is a CleanTech solution for the containment of ship hulls at dockside to fight biofouling.

Our system will combine 3 physicochemical parameters effective against fouling:

  • Absence of light: the opacity of the membrane will allow a total absence of light that will induce the death of the organisms.
  • Water hypoxia: the membrane, once inflated, will imprison biofouling which will have almost no contact and exchange with the environment. The fouling will die from a lack of oxygen.
  • Fresh water injection: the shape of the membrane allows injecting fresh water between the hull and the membrane to accelerate the death of the fouling.

Approching vessel Warning device for Cetaceans (AWAC)

Greenov is working on the development of an acoustic warning system to be placed under the hull of ships to alert cetaceans of the arrival of a ship.

The frequencies, the sound, and the orientation of the acoustic waves will be optimized to alert cetaceans while minimizing the addition of new noise in the underwater environment.

Several campaigns at sea will be conducted with scientists to verify the reaction of cetaceans.

Reduction of port dredging impact

Greenov proposes a system of acoustic and luminous spotters to reduce the accidental catch of fish and elvers during dredging operations.

It is an acoustic scarecrow combined with strobes installed at the suction head of the dredging tool, which would scare away fish, juveniles and elvers living in the sediment layers.

Acoustic Metamaterials

Greenov is currently focusing on developing novel acoustic metamaterials for deep underwater applications, aiming to minimize the impact of the new floating wind farm and offshore activities on marine ecosystems.

Acoustic metamaterials are specially structured materials designed to possess acoustic mitigation properties. They can also be used for noise abatement from wind turbines in operation. They are currently used in the construction industry to provide sound insulation.
