Whales play a vital ecological role: they bring nutrients from the depths, feeding phytoplankton, which is responsible for 50% of the oxygen we breathe and absorbs 40% of the CO2. Each whale stores an average of 33 tons of CO2, helping fight climate change.

But that’s not all: marine mammals act as “umbrella species,” protecting a wide range of ecosystems and marine life. Their preservation is key to maintaining ocean balance.

𝐎𝐍𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐒 :
▷ Despite legal protections, whales and other marine mammals still face numerous dangers:
▷ Pollution: ingestion of plastics and entanglement, chemical disruptions affecting their health.
▷ Underwater noise: marine work and traffic disturb their communication and food-seeking behavior.
▷ Collisions: vessels pose a major threat to these ocean giants.
Abusive observation practices: causing stress and disrupting natural behaviors.
